How do I find your office?
I’m located at the following address:
230 Rt 206
Building 3
Flanders, NJ 07836
Park behind the building in the main lot. Enter the lobby door, then immediately enter the door on your left (Delta PC) and follow the corridor. My office is the last on the left.
When can I see you?
I keep office hours Monday through Thursday beginning at 1:00 pm, ending at 8:00 pm. Later or earlier hours are available upon request.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
I believe therapy is a commitment for both the client and the therapist. This commitment is important for your progress.
If you are unable to attend your appointment, please make every effort to cancel at least 24 hours in advance; otherwise, you will be charged your full session fee.
Emergencies occur, and life happens. If extenuating circumstances prevent you from attending your regularly scheduled appointment, please discuss this so we may adjust the schedule.
Who do you work with?
I work with “tweens,” from 11 years old, adolescents, and adults.
As a marriage and family therapist, I am specially trained to work with individuals, couples and families.
Do you offer a free consultation?
The short answer is yes, I do.
A good fit between client and therapist is important for both you and me. To that end, I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation.
During our meeting, we’ll have the opportunity to discuss your reasons for seeking assistance in therapy at this time. I’ll ask about your goals as well as any past experiences you’ve had in therapy. This is a time for you to ask questions, as well.
If we both feel this is a “good fit,” we can discuss how to move forward. If either of us decides other support might be more beneficial, I will assist you with referrals.
What qualifies you to help me?
My career was launched when I received nursing credentials from Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing in Boston, Massachusetts, and practiced as a registered nurse for 15 years.
I’ve raised three children, primarily as a single-mother.
My undergraduate studies were at College of St. Elizabeth in Convent Station, New Jersey, where I completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary School Education with a major in History and Special Education.
I practiced teaching for 15 years in middle school within grades 6, 7 and 8. Then I worked for 6 years as a Special Education teacher both in Self-Contained and Resource Rooms, as well as Inclusion Classrooms as the 2nd teacher. For the following 9 years, I was a 6th grade classroom teacher responsible for teaching World History and Earth Science. I pursued advanced education and recevied a Master of Science from Walden University in Middle Level Education.
I returned to graduate school and received a professional diploma in Marriage and Family Therapy from Kean University in Union, New Jersey, in 2014, at which time I began practicing as a marriage and family therapist.
Have you ever been in therapy?
The biblical quote, “Physician, heal thyself,” has an important meaning to me. I believe in the importance of therapy to interpret and unravel the messages we’ve received while growing up.
I have found therapy to be a great opportunity to understand and grow from experiences of the past. Because I understand how difficult it is to reach out for help, I have great compassion for those on their journey. I know how much courage it takes to make that first phone call. I can also personally confirm the benefits of therapy.
Does religion matter?
Religion and spirituality matter if they matter to you. I do not profess to be an expert about any one religion, but I am respectful and honor everyone’s path and religious/spiritual beliefs.
