ADHD
His locker is a disaster. She did her homework, but it disappeared between home and school. He lost another pair of gloves. The teacher called again about her daydreaming. The principal called because he’s going to be suspended. He never listens. She can’t remember what I asked her to do. Her room is a disaster. He spent hours in his room, but he didn’t clean it like I asked him to. He never gets asked over for playdates.
This may sound familiar with your school aged child. Your child is smart, SO smart, but their grades are terrible. You spend hours doing homework together, but it doesn’t make it to school. You are constantly bringing books and projects to school because they were forgotten at home, or you are going back to school to get the books, clothes and assignments left behind.
The teacher says your child is not focused, doesn’t pay attention and gets distracted easily. But that’s confusing because at home when your child is building with Legos or playing video games, the house could collapse around them, and they wouldn’t notice.
This is what ADHD looks like. I spent many years as a special education teacher. This is a very, very familiar landscape for me. I am so very ready to help you find the tools, resources and support you’ve been looking for to help raise your very wonderful, creative and awesome child.
